A Career Built on Service and Skill

Dr. Samin Eftekhari has spent more than 15 years building a career around two things: technical precision and genuinely listening to patients. Raised in Miami, Florida, he trained in South Florida and went on to pursue advanced surgical and prosthetic dentistry, expertise that took him across the country treating patients and mentoring fellow dentists in more than ten cities, and earning him licensure to practice in three states along the way.

That drive to serve runs deeper than the operatory. Dr. Eftekhari voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for nearly a decade, earning recognition as a decorated Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. The discipline and calm under pressure he carried home from that service now shows up chairside, in steady hands, clear communication, and a level head, even during your most involved procedures.

Long before he picked up a handpiece, Dr. Eftekhari taught Biology, Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry at Pepperdine University's Malibu campus and around the Los Angeles area. That educator's instinct still drives how he practices today: he'd rather take an extra five minutes to explain exactly what's happening in your mouth, in plain English, than rush you out the door.

Meet Dr. Pegah Mashayekhi (“Dr. Mashay”)

Patients call her Dr. Mashay, and it doesn't take long to see why they're instantly at ease with her. Dr. Pegah Mashayekhi, DO, is a board-certified physician specializing in Sleep Medicine and Obesity Medicine, and she's brought that expertise in-house at Tri-City Dental, so you can get screened and treated for sleep apnea and other sleep disorders right here, without chasing down a separate referral. Before joining us, she spent years caring for patients at Palomar Health Medical Group, starting in 2016.

Her training reads like a tour of respected medical institutions: a medical degree from Midwestern University's Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, an internship and residency through the University of California, San Francisco in Fresno, and a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Along the way, she's also taken her skills abroad, delivering and advocating for care in underserved communities across Colombia and Central America.

What really drives Dr. Mashayekhi is the connection most people miss: how sleep, weight, and chronic disease all feed into one another, and how fixing one can change the others for good. Outside the office, she's just as likely to be traveling, cooking, or Persian dancing, and she's happy to talk with patients in Spanish or Persian (Farsi).

When he's not treating patients, Dr. Eftekhari is usually behind a camera or out on the water. Raised in Miami, he grew up boating and fishing along the coast, and still spends his free time as an avid landscape photographer, fisherman, and home cook. The same patience and attention to detail that goes into chasing a sunset shot also shows up in his chairside care.

Tri-City Dental is the next chapter of a practice built on decades of trusted, family-focused care. After relocating to Oceanside, we took on a new name to reflect our commitment to serving patients across Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad, and the surrounding Tri-City communities.

What hasn't changed is our promise: every patient is treated like family, every treatment plan is personalized, and every visit is designed to leave you smiling, not dreading your next trip to the dentist.

Practice Ownership

Meet Dr. Amir Ghazinoor, Practice Owner

Tri-City Dental is owned by Dr. Amir Ghazinoor, DDS, a second-generation dentist with decades of experience in comfortable, technology-forward care, including advanced laser dentistry. He's a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), and Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), and stays closely involved with the practice today, often stopping by to check in with patients himself.
